Most of us are familiar with the term Good Samaritan. But how often do we think about the meaning? A Good Samaritan<\/a><\/strong> is someone who is helpful to someone in distress; it’s a person who shows kindness to strangers and loved ones alike. There is even something known as The Good Samaritan Law. Good Samaritan laws<\/a><\/strong> grant liability protection to folks who offer reasonable assistance to those who are hurt, sick, in danger, or otherwise incapacitated. These laws help protect citizens who are trying to help others in an emergency situation from lawsuits. Being a Good Samaritan has extended benefits, it would seem.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

At GrantWatch<\/a><\/strong>, we are honored to help serve the organizations, businesses, and individuals who act as our country’s Good Samaritans. We appreciate that they step up and do their best to aid those who need of emergency assistance. These are ordinary people coming together or acting alone to help those in dire need. Whether that be medical treatment, mental health treatment, food, or other aid, GrantWatch recognizes how much good they are providing for their communities.     <\/p>\n\n\n\n

Good Samaritans<\/strong><\/h4>\n\n\n\n

Many times extreme weather events and other emergency situations that can otherwise seem tragic, present us with something of a silver living. One poignant example is the aftermath of 9\/11. In addition to the heroic first responders ordinary citizens emerged as heroes, saving lives, conducting searches for victims and survivors, and providing essential aid such as food and water to emergency personnel.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Similarly, GrantWatch has our headquarters in Florida where hurricanes are a recurring challenge. Those of us who have experienced natural disasters know how these situations bring out the best in everyday, ordinary people. In times of great need, communities have witnessed acts of kindness that range from providing shelter to evacuees, to volunteers donating essential supplies to survivors. Good Samaritans emerge to rescue neighbors trapped by storm damage and flooding, and countless others pitch in to clear debris and aid in cleanup efforts. These humble acts of valor showcase the good in humanity. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

Disaster Relief Grants<\/strong>  <\/h4>\n\n\n\n
  1. Grants are available to nonprofit organizations, government agencies, and tribal governments to improve disaster preparedness<\/strong><\/a> and recovery<\/li>
  2. There is also funding for government agencies that provide emergency services<\/strong><\/a> to enhance local firefighting capability. <\/li>
  3. Opportunities exist for nonprofit organizations in multiple states to meet basic human needs<\/strong><\/a>, promote community vitality, and encourage volunteerism in communities in which the funding source does business.<\/li>
  4. In addition there are grants available to USA and territories state and local government agencies and tribal agencies and organizations for resources and training to enable first responders to administer opioid overdose treatments<\/strong><\/a><\/li>
  5. Grants are also available for up to $5,000 to nonprofit organizations working to protect and support animals during emergencies and natural disasters<\/strong><\/a><\/li>
  6. There are also loans to businesses and nonprofit organizations in eligible areas for disaster relief efforts<\/strong>.<\/a><\/li>
  7. Funding is there to state, tribal, and local government agencies and nonprofit organizations for relief efforts following natural disasters<\/strong><\/a>.<\/li>
  8. Finally, there are grants to charities for programs that align with the funding source’s focus areas. Projects and programs may focus on one of the following areas: disaster response<\/strong><\/a>, health and longevity, financial protection, opportunity pipeline, and programs promoting volunteerism. <\/li><\/ol>\n\n\n\n
