Albuquerque holds the title of the &#8220;Ballooning Capital of the World.\u201d<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<h4 class=\"wp-block-heading\"><strong>Then There&#8217;s Some &#8216;Fun Facts&#8217; About New Mexico<\/strong><\/h4>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>Demi Moore is an actress from Roswell, New Mexico.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Doc Holliday, a notorious gunslinger, owned a saloon in New Mexico.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Roswell, a town in New Mexico, is known for its unique space alien theme.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>The creation of Polaroid or instant photos was inspired by an event in New Mexico.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Jeff Bezos, the founder of Amazon.com, was born in Albuquerque on January 12, 1964.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>The Capulin Volcano National Monument stands tall and offers views of five different states on a clear day.<em> <\/em><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<h4 class=\"wp-block-heading\"><strong><\/strong><strong>Now For Some &#8216;Really Fun Facts&#8217; About New Mexico!<\/strong><\/h4>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>The world&#8217;s largest flat enchilada title belongs to Las Cruces.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>A world record for the largest Navajo taco ever made is held by the state.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>It is said that Maria Teresa Restaurant is haunted by a ghost that plays the piano.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Sandia National Laboratories used CT Technology to recreate authentic dinosaur sounds.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>The owner of the house used in &#8220;Breaking Bad&#8221; installed a 6 foot fence to deter visitors from throwing pizza on the roof, a reference to a scene in the show which is based in Albuquerque, New Mexico.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>New Mexico produces a greater amount of chili peppers than any other state. Funding is for leadership and capacity building, workforce development and education, and economic opportunity.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>There are grants and in-kind donations to New Mexico nonprofits to <a href=\"https:\/\/newmexico.grantwatch.com\/grant\/200094\/grants-and-in-kind-donations-to-usa-nonprofits-in-multiple-states-to-benefit-local-communities.html\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\"><strong>benefit local communities<\/strong><\/a>. Donation types include products, gift cards, cash, and sponsorships.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>In addition, grants to New Mexico nonprofits, government agencies, Pueblos, Nations, schools, IHEs, conservation districts, and land grant associations for <a href=\"https:\/\/newmexico.grantwatch.com\/grant\/201904\/grants-to-new-mexico-nonprofits-municipalities-tribes-schools-ihes-and-districts-for-outdoor-recreational-projects.html\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\"><strong>outdoor recreation projects<\/strong><\/a>. Funding is for local and regional projects that enhance recreational opportunities and contribute to economic development, quality of life, and tourism. Grants will fund &#8216;shovel-ready&#8217; projects that increase access to the outdoors for all New Mexicans.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Grants to eligible New Mexico nonprofits to address the needs of <a href=\"https:\/\/newmexico.grantwatch.com\/grant\/174764\/grants-to-usa-nonprofits-in-multiple-states-for-a-range-of-programs-that-benefit-local-residents.html\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\"><strong>local community residents<\/strong><\/a>. Funding is for activities and programs for community development and human services. Funding is also for veteran and military support, education, cultural affairs and diversity, and health.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>There is a grant for <a href=\"https:\/\/newmexico.grantwatch.com\/grant\/172194\/grant-to-a-new-mexico-nonprofit-school-or-agency-for-projects-benefiting-eligible-communities.html\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\"><strong>up to $5,000<\/strong><\/a> to a New Mexico nonprofit, school, or government agency to benefit a local community. Interested applicants will contact staff prior to applying. Funding supports projects in the areas of education, environment, economic development, and energy efficiency or renewable energy.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Also, in-kind grants of trees to eligible New Mexico nonprofits, government entities, IHEs, and schools for <a href=\"https:\/\/newmexico.grantwatch.com\/grant\/172634\/in-kind-grants-of-trees-to-louisiana-new-mexico-texas-and-wyoming-nonprofits-agencies-ihes-and-schools-for-environmental-projects.html\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\"><strong>environmental stewardship projects<\/strong><\/a>. The program is to benefit the environment by protecting wildlife habitats, beautifying neighborhoods, and supporting conservation activities. The Program provides native\/indigenous species to local areas.<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n\n\n\n<h4 class=\"wp-block-heading\"><strong>Additional New Mexico Community and Economic Development Grants<\/strong><\/h4>\n\n\n\n<ol class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>Grants to eligible New Mexico nonprofits to support <a href=\"https:\/\/newmexico.grantwatch.com\/grant\/172619\/grants-to-texas-new-mexico-and-mexico-nonprofits-for-community-benefit-programs.html\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\"><strong>community benefit programs<\/strong><\/a>. Funding is for a wide range of community benefit initiatives, including education, health, environment, arts and culture and economic development.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>There are grants of <a href=\"https:\/\/newmexico.grantwatch.com\/grant\/195932\/grants-to-arizona-new-mexico-and-utah-navajo-nation-chapters-and-nonprofits-to-benefit-residents.html\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\"><strong>up to $5,000<\/strong><\/a> to eligible New Mexico Navajo Nation Chapters and nonprofits to benefit residents. Funding is for programs, projects, and organizations addressing communal issues and needs in the areas of training and education, elders, cultural preservation, health and wellness, economic development, and environmental protection\/management. Projects will focus on benefiting the Chapter\/Community members and not on individual needs or benefiting only a few.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Also, grants to New Mexico nonprofits, Native American tribes, government agencies, and public schools for projects to meet the <a href=\"https:\/\/newmexico.grantwatch.com\/grant\/197174\/grants-to-new-mexico-nonprofits-tribes-agencies-and-public-schools-for-projects-to-meet-the-needs-of-local-communities.html\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\"><strong>local community needs<\/strong><\/a>. Projects will address capacity building and economic development. Priority areas also include education, health care, local food industry development, arts, stewardship, environment, and rural development. The Foundation makes grants for general operating expenses.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Grants to New Mexico small businesses, nonprofits, and individual entrepreneurs <a href=\"https:\/\/newmexico.grantwatch.com\/grant\/207633\/grants-to-new-mexico-for-profits-nonprofits-and-individuals-in-eligible-locations-for-support-in-the-wake-of-the-covid-crisis.html\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\"><strong>for financial support<\/strong><\/a> in the wake of the Coronavirus (COVID-19) health crisis. Funding helps launch new businesses and expand established companies. Also, the purpose of the grants are to promote economic growth and development and create new quality jobs. A secondary goal is to expand assistance throughout New Mexico as the need arises.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Lastly, grants to agricultural professionals for <a href=\"https:\/\/newmexico.grantwatch.com\/grant\/176395\/grants-to-usa-agricultural-professionals-in-multiple-states-for-training-related-to-sustainability-in-agriculture.html\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\"><strong>agricultural sustainability training<\/strong><\/a>.
