Many large organizations<\/a> and foundations have pledged funds to help combat racial injustice, increase funding to social justice causes, and combat disparities. One such organization, Anthem Insurance<\/a>, together with their Anthem Foundation has pledged $50 million over the next five years to address racial injustice and health disparities in health care. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

Here’s what Gail K. Boudreaux, President and CEO of Anthem, Inc had to say about The Anthem Foundation pledging these funds: <\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201cThe effects of COVID-19, together with the recent social unrest, have further illuminated the racial inequities and health disparities that have historically plagued our communities for far too long. These local communities, where we live and work, are also where we serve others through the lens of inclusion, acceptance, and belonging. That focus will not change. <\/p><\/blockquote>\n\n\n\n

Boudreaux continued: <\/p>\n\n\n\n

“We pledge to be a leader and work in solidarity with our communities to challenge the status quo and address the factors driving disparities in our healthcare system and in society as a whole.<\/p><\/blockquote>\n\n\n\n

The Anthem Foundation currently works with more than 4,000 non-profits that seek to improve community and individual health. Now, the Foundation is creating partnerships with organizations whose goals are to combat Health Disparities and Racial Injustice. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

The company will also provide a 1:1 match for all of its employees’ contributions to the National Urban League, United Negro College Fund, NAACP, and Boys and Girls Club of America.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
