Walking and exercise keep you active, encourage you to spend time outdoors, and boost overall well-being! The physical and mental health benefits are undeniable. Picture this: a peaceful neighborhood stroll, a challenging hike, or a game of baseball at the local park. Sounds like heaven, doesn’t it? What’s more, activities like archery, climbing, and team sports encourage movement, build confidence, and bring communities together. Best of all, exercise and group activities are good for everyone, regardless of factors like age and socioeconomic status. However, not everyone has access to safe spaces and equipment. That-s why grants for organizations like nonprofits, government agencies, and schools are important to ensure exercise programs are accessible to all.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Sports and Recreation Grants<\/strong><\/h4>\n\n\n\n
1. Health and Wellness Programs<\/strong><\/a><\/h6>\n\n\n\n

Grants to nonprofits, government agencies, schools, and IHEs for programs related to health and wellness. Priority funding is for projects that focus on healthy eating and exercise. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

2. Encourage Biking and Walking to School<\/a><\/strong><\/h6>\n\n\n\n

Up to $1,000 to nonprofits, educational institutions, and PTAs for programs that encourage bicycling or walking to school. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

4. Physical Activities for Individuals with Physical Challenges!<\/strong><\/a><\/h6>\n\n\n\n

Grants to nonprofits to individuals with physical challenges for physical activities. Funding is for athletic programs, recreational activities, day trips, and other physical event opportunities. The goal is to provide unique, inspiring, and fun experiences that are not accessible to people with physical challenges.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

5. Promoting Rock Climbing Activities!<\/strong><\/a><\/h6>\n\n\n\n

Grants to organizations, government agencies, land trusts, and individuals to promote rock climbing. Funding supports projects that increase accessibility and opportunities for climbing. Funds will also be for construction or renovation of climbing area facilities, as well as educational outreach, research, and advocacy.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

6. Monthly Fees and Equipment Costs<\/a><\/strong><\/h6>\n\n\n\n

Grants to licensed foster families for monthly fees and equipment costs related to having foster children in various organized activities like sports, music, and the arts.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

7. Archery Programs and Equipment<\/a><\/strong><\/h6>\n\n\n\n

Grants and in-kind support to West Virginia schools to promote the sport of archery. Grantees will receive funds and\/or equipment to support archery programs.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

8. Trail Maintenance and Improvement Projects<\/a><\/strong><\/h6>\n\n\n\n

$250 to individuals and groups to improve and maintain privately-owned or public trails used for off-road vehicles, public parks, hiking trails, and nature preserves. Eligible projects may include trail clean-ups, trail expansion, and trail restoration.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

9.  Recreational Events and Environmental Programming<\/a><\/strong><\/h6>\n\n\n\n

Grants to nonprofit and public organizations for events and programs to benefit local residents. Funding supports virtual and in-person events involving physical activity, such as biking, walking, hiking, and triathlons. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

10. Promote Sports Participation<\/strong><\/a><\/h6>\n\n\n\n

In-kind grants of equipment and clothing to youth-serving organizations and schools to enhance sports opportunities for underserved children. The program provides new softball and baseball equipment and apparel and seeks to engage youth of all skill levels to learn, grow, and play the game to the best of their ability.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
