Applying for at least three grant applications increases your organization&#8217;s chances of winning at least 89%!<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li><strong>1 Application:<\/strong>&nbsp;63% of respondents won at least one grant.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><strong>2 Applications:&nbsp;<\/strong>75% of respondents won at least one grant.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><strong>3 to 5 Applications:<\/strong>&nbsp;91% of respondents won at least one grant.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><strong>6 to 10 Applications:&nbsp;<\/strong>97% of respondents won at least one grant.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><strong>11 to 20 Applications:<\/strong>&nbsp;98% of respondents won at least one grant.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><strong>21 to 30 Applications:<\/strong>&nbsp;99% of respondents won at least one grant.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p>You can see that submitting three or more grant applications to various funders is the \u2018magic number\u2019 if you want success when applying for grants. So don\u2019t be afraid of your first rejection; instead, use it as part of your learning curve to help you improve your likelihood of success the next time!<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h6 class=\"wp-block-heading\"><br \/><strong>3<\/strong>)<strong>&nbsp;Don\u2019t Rush the Research<\/strong><\/h6>\n\n\n\n<p>Compiling a grant application takes time. On average, grant research usually takes&nbsp;<strong>more than<\/strong>&nbsp;<strong>three days<\/strong>&nbsp;per grant for 40% of grant seekers. Making a plan for \u2013 and the writing of \u2013 the grant application usually takes&nbsp;<strong>more than<\/strong>&nbsp;<strong>five days<\/strong>.&nbsp;This is an important process that you should not rush. After all, if a foundation is willing to fund your project, you can\u2019t expect them to blindly award you funds. You need to show them the facts!<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Consider hiring a professional <strong><a href=\"https:\/\/www.grantwriterteam.com\/classified-advertisement.php\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">grant writer<\/a><\/strong> for help with the research, development and overall polishing of your grant application. Grant writers have experience in writing winning grant applications for a wide variety of grants. Both parts must adhere to the funder\u2019s guidelines to be compliant.&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ol class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>A funder\u2019s application guidelines will usually tell you how to structure the proposal. This includes major headings as well as topic components.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>On the packaging side, for example, did the funder say to \u201csubmit a 14-page proposal with 11-pt Times New Roman font, double-spaced text, with 1-inch margins, on letter size (8 1\/2 x 11 inch) paper?\u201d Did the proposal you submitted meet all of these requirements? Incorrect formatting of your proposal will be a sure sign to the funder that you haven\u2019t followed their submission guidelines<em>.<\/em><\/li>\n<\/ol>\n\n\n\n<p>If you don\u2019t follow the directions, you can bet the funder will not read your proposal. Formatting checklists come in handy for this kind of cross-check.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h6 class=\"wp-block-heading\"><br \/><strong>6<\/strong>)&nbsp;<strong>Make Sure Your Proposal is Coherent and Readable<\/strong><\/h6>\n\n\n\n<p>If you submit a poorly written proposal, your application is less likely to receive funding for two reasons:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ol class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>The funder may not be able to figure out what the goal is that you\u2019re proposing to achieve or how you intend to accomplish that goal.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>A poorly written proposal will likely be unclear in its objectives and is something that may make the funder question whether your proposal would be a good investment.<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n\n\n\n<p>Even if you have met all of the application guidelines, your application may not make the \u2018short list\u2019 for further review if there are spelling or grammar errors.&nbsp;If you don\u2019t have strong writing skills, or if you need to prepare a proposal in a language in which you have little or no familiarity, it is essential to find an editor who can work with you to polish the text to make it as clear as possible.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h6 class=\"wp-block-heading\"><strong>7<\/strong>)&nbsp;<strong>Don\u2019t Submit a Generic Proposal<\/strong><\/h6>\n\n\n\n<p>Submitting a proposal only made up of text copied and pasted from other proposals is unlikely to be successful of being awarded. While re-using text in more than one proposal can be acceptable, keep in mind that the requirements and interests differ for each application.
