According to the World Health Organization, there are about 1.38 million new cases and 458 000 deaths from breast cancer each year. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<blockquote class=\"wp-block-quote is-layout-flow wp-block-quote-is-layout-flow\"><p>Breast cancer is by far the most common cancer in women worldwide, both in the developed and developing countries. In low- and middle-income countries the incidence has been rising up steadily in the last years due to increase in life expectancy, increase urbanization and adoption of western lifestyles.<\/p><cite>WHO<\/cite><\/blockquote>\n\n\n\n<p>Not enough is known about the causes of breast cancer, therefore, early detection is imperative. According to studies, early detection of breast cancer can increase the survival rates of the patient &#8211; <em>that of course depends on if adequate diagnosis and treatment are available<\/em>. If detected late, curative treatment is often no longer an option. In such cases, palliative care to relieve the suffering of patients and their families is needed.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>It is important to check for the signs and symptoms of breast cancer. Symptoms may include- the presence of a lump in the breast, pain in the breast, swelling in areas near the breasts, discharge from nipple other than breast milk, change in the shape of the nipple, and swelling underarm. In some cases, these may not be the sign of breast cancer but any of these signs should be reported to the doctor immediately.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>During Breast Cancer Awareness month, the goal is to increase attention and support for awareness, early detection, and treatment as well as palliative care of this disease. To that end, we will be featuring grants that were created to support the cause.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<div class=\"wp-block-image\" datatext=\"\"><figure class=\"aligncenter size-large\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" width=\"800\" height=\"373\" src=\"https:\/\/www.grantwatch.com\/grantnews\/wp-content\/uploads\/2020\/10\/Oct-800x373.jpg\" alt=\"Breast Cancer Awareness\" class=\"wp-image-6799\" srcset=\"https:\/\/www.grantwatch.com\/grantnews\/wp-content\/uploads\/2020\/10\/Oct-800x373.jpg 800w, https:\/\/www.grantwatch.com\/grantnews\/wp-content\/uploads\/2020\/10\/Oct-300x140.jpg 300w, https:\/\/www.grantwatch.com\/grantnews\/wp-content\/uploads\/2020\/10\/Oct-768x359.jpg 768w, https:\/\/www.grantwatch.com\/grantnews\/wp-content\/uploads\/2020\/10\/Oct.jpg 1071w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 800px) 100vw, 800px\" \/><\/figure><\/div>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Grants for Breast Cancer <\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p>To encourage a commitment to breast cancer research, clinical&nbsp;doctors and research scientists whose primary focus is breast cancer and who are in the early stages&nbsp;of their careers, should apply for this <a href=\"https:\/\/www.grantwatch.com\/grant\/190387\/grants-to-new-jersey-new-york-and-connecticut-institutions-to-support-fellowships-for-doctors.html\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">$75,000 grant<\/a> &#8211; <a href=\"https:\/\/www.grantwatch.com\/grant\/190387\/grants-to-new-jersey-new-york-and-connecticut-institutions-to-support-fellowships-for-doctors.html\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">click this link for additional details<\/a>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>New York and Connecticut institutions should apply for this grant to support health and outreach services for local cancer patients. Eligible program areas include mammograms and biopsies, counseling, and education. Funding is intended to help local institutions provide services for underserved breast cancer patients. Programs must be located in Connecticut and\/or in Westchester County, N.Y. <a href=\"https:\/\/www.grantwatch.com\/grant\/190389\/grants-to-new-york-and-connecticut-institutions-in-eligible-locations-to-support-services-for-cancer-patients.html\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">Click here for additional details<\/a>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/usa.grantwatch.com\/grant\/164286\/grants-to-usa-organizations-for-cancer-research-and-development-projects.html\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">This Scientific Project Support Grant<\/a> provides funding for USA organizations for cancer training and research projects that focus on specific therapeutic areas, as outlined below. Funding will be provided to support general research, translational research, research projects that have a scientific basis, and development projects, and other initiatives of research organizations, labs, and academic institutions.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>USA nonprofits and professional organizations should apply for this grant to support advanced medical training and research by research and clinical professionals at an accredited teaching institution or university.
