This federal Disaster Recovery Dislocated Worker Grant is administered by the <a href=\"https:\/\/Florida.grantwatch.com\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">Florida<\/a> Department of Economic Opportunity and will provide disaster-relief employment in the form of temporary jobs, employment and training services, and supportive services to eligible Floridians.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Here&#8217;s some background on this <a href=\"https:\/\/www.dol.gov\/agencies\/eta\/dislocated-workers\">specific kind of grant award<\/a>: <\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<blockquote class=\"wp-block-quote is-layout-flow wp-block-quote-is-layout-flow\"><p>DWGs provide resources to states and other eligible applicants to respond to large, unexpected layoff events causing significant job losses. This funding is intended to temporarily expand capacity to serve dislocated workers, including military service members, and meet the increased demand for WIOA employment and training services, with a purpose to reemploy laid-off workers and enhance their employability and earnings.&#8221; <\/p><\/blockquote>\n\n\n\n<h4 class=\"wp-block-heading\"><strong>So who will be eligible for this assistance? <\/strong><\/h4>\n\n\n\n<p>Floridians who have been laid off due to the pandemic, who have lost work because of the pandemic, or those who have been experiencing long-term unemployment will be eligible for assistance. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<h4 class=\"wp-block-heading\"><strong>What does this assistance comprise of? <\/strong><\/h4>\n\n\n\n<p>Employment under this grant will include activities that focus on helping people in need. These activities will include: <\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\"><li>Providing medicine, food, and other supplies to individuals in need<\/li><li>Assisting with setting up quarantine areas and providing assistance to quarantined individuals<\/li><li>working at food distribution centers<\/li><li>Cleaning sanitizing schools and quarantine areas<\/li><\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p>Governor DeSantis spoke on this grant, and the impact it would have: <\/p>\n\n\n\n<blockquote class=\"wp-block-quote is-layout-flow wp-block-quote-is-layout-flow\"><p>As our state and local communities continue to recover from the pandemic, I am proud to announce $28 million in additional funding for disaster-relief employment. Funding is intended to assist households that have been economically impacted by the pandemic with up to three months of rent payments.&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/florida.grantwatch.com\/grant\/163840\/grants-and-in-kind-support-to-florida-nonprofits-in-eligible-locations-for-projects-to-benefit-the-local-community.html\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">Grants and in-kind support to Florida nonprofit <\/a>organizations in eligible locations for projects to benefit the local community. The funding source provides both financial support and volunteer support for short-term projects.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/florida.grantwatch.com\/grant\/193720\/grants-to-florida-residents-and-families-in-eligible-areas-for-rent-and-mortgage-assistance-during-the-coronavirus-crisis.html\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">Grants of up to $5,000 to Florida residents<\/a> and households in eligible locations for rent and mortgage support during the Coronavirus (COVID-19) health crisis. Funding is intended to assist local individuals and families who are behind in their rent and mortgage payments due to the pandemic and are in danger of eviction.
