The philanthropist has been spending billions of dollars to make the world a better place by giving away her fortune. She has picked the organizations and foundations that she is choosing carefully, especially focused on vulnerable populations. Scott, <a href=\"https:\/\/www.wbtv.com\/2020\/12\/15\/mackenzie-scott-donates-billions-nearly-organizations-including-multiple-nc-hbcus-charlotte-ymca\/#:~:text=CHARLOTTE%2C%20N.C.,worth%20of%20over%20%2460%20billion.\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">who is the world&#8217;s richest woman<\/a> has been donating billions to various causes through grants to needy organizations.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Scott Tries To Bridge The Gap By Donating To Those Who Need It Most <\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p>And as the United States, and service-based organizations have seen major fundraising deficits amidst the COVID-19 pandemic. These deficits come as  Scott, who went back to her maiden name recently, has signed a pledge to donate the majority of her wealth within her lifetime. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/mackenzie-scott.medium.com\/384-ways-to-help-45d0b9ac6ad8\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">In a Medium post, Scott spoke about her charitable giving<\/a>, why she chose those specific organizations. These gifts were distributed across 384 organizations in all 50 states and Puerto Rico. Originally the idea was actually to distribute these funds to 6,490 different organizations, though that changed. Community development is the focus of almost all of these organizations. Some of these organizations are providing emergency food, shelter, emergency support services, and monetary relief to the most vulnerable populations. The Covid-19 pandemic makes these grant awards even more direly needed. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\">A Better World Powered By The Best Teams <\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p>According to Scott, while some of these grants are providing basic needs to vulnerable populations, others will go towards improving upon the inequities that have only been made worse by the pandemic. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>She lists the types of resources these organizations she is donating to provide for their recipients. These issues include:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<blockquote class=\"wp-block-quote is-layout-flow wp-block-quote-is-layout-flow\"><p>Debt relief, employment training, credit, and financial services for under-resourced communities, education for historically marginalized and underserved people, civil rights advocacy groups, and legal defense funds that take on institutional discrimination.&#8221; <\/p><\/blockquote>\n\n\n\n<p>In her letter, Scott says that while all of these organizations have been chosen carefully, this is only the beginning. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<blockquote class=\"wp-block-quote is-layout-flow wp-block-quote-is-layout-flow\"><p>About the organizations that will receive grants they all share these values: &#8220;These 384 carefully selected teams have dedicated their lives to helping others, working and volunteering and serving real people face-to-face at bedsides and tables, in prisons and courtrooms and classrooms, on streets and hospital wards and hotlines and frontlines of all types and sizes, day after day after day. They help by delivering vital services, and also through the profound encouragement felt each time a person is seen, valued, and trusted by another human being<\/p><\/blockquote>\n\n\n\n<p>It&#8217;s such a positive thing to see that Mackenzie Scott has stepped up to help fill a much-needed funding gap. By providing these grants, Ms. Scott ensures that many underserved populations can get access to much-needed services. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>We here at GrantWatch enjoy seeing philanthropists donate so much in funds to that help so many underserved communities.
