Are you looking for disability grants? As an individual, you may have noticed finding disability grants can be quite challenging. So, where do you even start and what should you look for? Currently, 61 million people in the USA are living with a disability. That’s one in four Americans! <\/p>\n\n\n\n

While these numbers are high, the grant opportunities available are quite low. Currently, most funding is given by the US government<\/a> in the form of Medicaid<\/a> and other financial support services<\/a>. Although government grants are the most common, foundations also play a pivotal role in providing support. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

However, finding foundation grants is not easy! And, in many cases, you may need to utilize a grant search engine such as GrantWatch.com<\/a> in order to find these opportunities.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Disability Grants That Could Help:<\/h4>\n\n\n\n
  1. Financial assistance grants<\/strong><\/a> are available to individuals below the age of 18<\/strong> for medical needs. This funding to help income-eligible parents and caregivers cover the costs of medical care for children with a specific health care need.
    <\/li>
  2. Individuals under the age of 21<\/strong>, living with mobility challenges, can apply for funding<\/strong><\/a> to help them live life to the fullest. This grant is for home and vehicle modifications, wheelchairs, and other assistive and therapeutic devices.
    <\/li>
  3. Autistic<\/strong> people of color<\/strong> could be eligible for a $500 micro-gran<\/strong>t<\/a>. This fund provides micro-grants to Black, Brown, Native, Asian, and mixed-race people in the autistic community for survival, organizing, leisure, and pleasure.

  4. Grants of up to $5,000<\/strong><\/a> are open to individuals with autism <\/strong>and their families for urgent treatment needs. This funding is to meet the treatment and support needs of those impacted with autism and their families.

  5. Reimbursement grants of up to $1,000<\/strong><\/a> are available for the installation of equipment<\/strong> in eligible Ford vehicles that will help people with disabilities. The equipment installation must clearly relate to a specific medical need.<\/li><\/ol>\n\n\n\n

    Grants Specific to Disabled Veterans:<\/h4>\n\n\n\n
    1. Grants up to $10,000<\/a> <\/strong>are open to military veterans and active-duty personnel who have disabilities due to their service. The funding is for home adaptations<\/strong> in line with their disability, including: repairs, construction, and house modifications. 
      <\/li>
    2. Veterans with severe injuries they sustained while in service to the country, may apply for specially adapted custom housing<\/strong><\/a> grants. Furthermore, applicants must be retired and were injured in the theater of Iraq-Afghanistan war, post 9\/11\/01.
      <\/li>
    3. Severely injured armed-force veterans may be eligible for specially designed mortgage-free houses<\/strong><\/a> to allow them to live independently. Additionally, their catastrophic injuries must have occurred on or after October 7, 2001.
      <\/li>
    4. Opportunities are open to post-9\/11 veterans with disabilities. The are invited <\/strong>to participate in a program<\/strong><\/a> to build skills and resources related to business management<\/strong> and entrepreneurship.
      <\/li>
    5. Grants are open<\/strong><\/a> to first responders, military personnel, and veterans with disabilities for sports and fitness programs<\/strong> that enhance their physical and mental health.

      Disability Grants for Specific States:<\/h4>\n\n\n\n
      1. Ohio nonprofits serving individuals with hearing or vision impairments can apply for grants for programs, projects, and services<\/a> to improve the lives of people with hearing and\/or visual impairments.
        <\/li>
      2. Rhode Island nonprofits that serve children and adults with physical disabilities may be eligible for grants for services<\/a>. Special consideration is given to organizations that serve low-income individuals.
        <\/li>
      3. Texas nonprofits that serve individuals with disabilities may be eligible for grants<\/a> to help with providing services to individuals with disabilities and disadvantaged populations.

      4. Indiana nonprofits provide services through programs that benefit individuals with disabilities may be eligible for grants<\/a>. Funding is available for programs that work to improve the quality of life of adults and children with developmental, intellectual, and physical disabilities

      5. Montana individuals and organizations, schools, and health providers may be eligible for grants <\/a>to help with mental health services <\/li><\/ol>\n\n\n\n
