Team Impact
TEAM IMPACT IS A NATIONAL NONPROFIT THAT CONNECTS CHILDREN FACING SERIOUS AND CHRONIC ILLNESSES WITH LOCAL COLLEGE ATHLETIC TEAMS, FORMING LIFELONG BONDS AND LIFE-CHANGING OUTCOMES. THROUGH TEAM IMPACT, THESE CHILDREN BECOME TRUE MEMBERS OF THE TEAM, ATTENDING PRACTICES, GAMES, TEAM DINNERS AND MORE. OUR GOAL IS TO PROMOTE HEALTHY SOCIAL AND EMOTIONAL DEVELOPMENT AND "GRADUATE" EACH MATCH FROM THE PROGRAM AFTER TWO YEARS WITH INCREASED OPTIMISM, SELF-CONFIDENCE, AND SENSE OF BELONGING. FAMILIES ALSO BENEFIT FROM THE PROGRAM THROUGH THE CONNECTIONS AND SUPPORT PROVIDED THROUGH THIS NEW COMMUNITY. STUDENT ATHLETES, WHO PROVIDE THE BASIS OF THE EXTENDED SUPPORT NETWORKS WE CREATE FOR THE CHILDREN AND THEIR FAMILIES, ARE TRAINED TO MAINTAIN A STRENGTHS-BASED, FUTURE-FOCUSED OUTLOOK. IN TURN, THEY LEARN LESSONS ON PERSPECTIVE, COURAGE AND PERSEVERANCE, AND ENTER THE WORKFORCE MORE CIVIC-MINDED.
