Tidewater Conservation Foundation
Historically, the Foundation has operated lease agreements with two 501(c)(3) organizations, Cultivating Communities and Center for African American Heritage, for a total of 8 acres. The lease allowed both groups to actively farm this acreage for $1 per year. Both groups ran programs to educate students in both gardening and business management. Food produced by both groups was donated to individuals in need or sold to raise funds to be donated to people in need. The Foundation has also operated a service agreement with the University of Maine Cooperative Extension to use 3 acres of agricultural land for growing foodstuffs and demonstration programs. In March, 2019, the Foundation donated all of its land holdings to the Town of Falmouth, ME. This transfer of property effectively terminated the Foundation's operations. All remaining funds, after paying for closing expenses and land maintenance performed before the donation, have also been contributed to the Town of Falmouth.
