Municipal Grants for Unsung Heroes of Public Service
1. Emergency Response Services!
Grants up to $50,000 to fire departments, EMS agencies, law enforcement agencies, public safety and nonprofit organizations, and schools in eligible areas to improve emergency response capacity. Funding may be used for the purchase of life-saving equipment, support of the military, disaster relief, scholarships and continued education, and prevention education.
2. Protect Local Water Supplies!
Grants to nonprofits, government agencies, and IHEs for projects to protect local water supplies. Funding is for initiatives to minimize water consumption and improve resilience against drought, protect public health and safety, and avoid water use conflicts. The goal of the program is also to maintain water quality, sustain sufficient economic production, and support ecological waterflow.
3. Support Local Arts and Cultural Projects!
There are grants to nonprofits, schools, as well as agencies to support local arts and cultural projects. Eligible activities include concerts, festivals, productions, residencies, publications, exhibitions, events, series, and other special activities. Funding will be for architecture, design, culture, film, video and history, as well as folk, literary, performing, and visual arts.
4. Educational Arts and Cultural Programming!
In addition, grants up to $5,000 to eligible artists, nonprofits, government agencies, and tribes for educational arts programming. Funding is for arts education projects in K-12 public schools and after-school settings and to promote partnerships with community-based organizations.
5. Veterans, Active Military, First Responders, and Families!
Up to $25,000 to nonprofit organizations, government entities, law enforcement agencies, fire departments, schools and IHEs in eligible states and provinces for programs that support local active members of the U.S. military, military veterans, first responders, and their families.
6. Research to Improve Education!
Grants to researchers affiliated with nonprofits, academic institutions, research facilities, and school districts. The goal of the research projects is to contribute to improvements in education.
7. Arts Projects and Programs!
There are grants for arts and cultural programs benefiting residents. Eligible arts disciplines include literature, media, music, dance, and design arts. Eligible disciplines also include folklore, theater, and visual arts and crafts, as well as multidiscipline projects.
8. Agencies to Address Community Needs!
Also, grants up to $10,000 to eligible community members, nonprofits, and municipalities to address community needs. Funding supports new and existing organizational programs and projects benefiting local residents. Priority consideration will be for underserved and/or low-income residents.
9. Agencies for Autism Research!
In addition, there are grants to investigators affiliated with an IHE, medical school, or research facility, as well as nonprofits and government agencies, for autism research. Funding is to bring together a consortium of investigators to collaborate to provide new information on advanced autism research.
10. Historic Preservation Projects!
Grants of up to $15,000 to eligible individuals, nonprofits, community-based organizations (CBOs), and public agencies for projects to preserve historic spaces. Funding will be for events, programs, and digital and printed resources focused on historic preservation.
11. Medical, Fire, and Safety Equipment
Up to $5,000 to government agencies and tribal entities for necessary medical, fire, and safety equipment. Funding is for medical services, police departments, and emergency management and communication. Eligible costs include personal protective equipment and gear, and communication equipment or systems.
12. Grants to Attract Tourism!
Also, grants up to $2,500 to eligible individuals, nonprofits, municipalities, and CBOs for activities to develop tourism. Funding supports events and promotional activities, as well as venue enhancements and expansion.
13. Purchasing and Training Police Dogs!
Grants up to $4,500 to law enforcement agencies for acquiring skilled and efficient police dogs. Funding is intended to assist police departments with the overwhelming costs needed to acquire a trained canine.
14. Professional Development in Humanities!
There are grants of up to $1,000 to eligible teachers, schools, nonprofits, tribes, faith-based organizations, and government agencies for professional development to enhance classroom learning. Funding is for K-12 educators to improve humanities classroom learning and pursue career development opportunities.
15. First Nations Infrastructure Improvements
Grants to Yukon municipalities and First Nations for infrastructure improvements. Funding is improves roads, highways, railways, internet services, public transportation, recreational and sports infrastructure, tourism, short-sea shipping, drinking water, solid waste management, community energy systems, brownfield redevelopment, and culture.
