Grants for up to $2,000 for historical preservation and education in Arkansas. The overall goal of the Foundation is to promote commemoration and learning opportunities for the Civil War. \"Why Commemorate the Civil War?\" is the theme of this year's funding opportunity. As we enter the 150th anniversary of a war that changed the social, economic and political nature of Arkansas forever, it is vitally important to reflect on the reasons for war and its impacts. It is even more important to explore the relevance of the events of 1861-1865 to us as a people, even a century and a half after the close of hostilities.

Civil War Sesquicentennial Grants may be used for, but are not limited to, the following types of projects:
* Development of plans for local commemoration of the Civil War Sesquicentennial
* Speakers’ fees and materials for symposia, conferences and workshops
* Development of museum exhibits or interpretive materials related to local Civil War events
* Development of printed materials, educational software, films, or videos interpreting the Civil War in Arkansas.
