Grants in the range of $10,000 to Bexar County, Texas nonprofits for dual generation programs that promote lifelong learning, self-reliance, healthy lifestyles, and that utilize arts to enhance the quality of life in the region. LOIs are due on September 29, 2017. Funding is also available for programs in the Central Texas Counties of Comal, Guadalupe, Hays, Kendall, and Travis for early childhood fine arts programs.

Bexar County: LOIs will be accepted in 2018 for DualGen (Two-Generation) Programs only. While many programs tend to arrange parent-oriented and child-oriented programs into separate silos, two-generation programs and policies seek to engage families in ways that knit together these services and address both groups simultaneously. Programs must have been operated for at least one year and serve families with children aged 0-8. The Foundation has chosen this focus because DualGen Programs support lifelong learning and self-reliance and healthy lifestyles, aligning with its longtime mission.

Two-Generation (DualGen) approaches help develop an infrastructure to address parent and child needs together. Two-Generation programs might include ESL, GED, anger management, financial literacy, or job training classes for parents, along with early childhood education (including creative play, the arts, and social-emotional development) for children, combined with programming that brings parents and children together to build on their separate activities.

If you are not sure whether your program will qualify for our LOI process, please review the The Aspen Institute's Two-Generation Playbook (link to download is in Supporting Documents below).

Central Texas Counties (Comal, Guadalupe, Hays, Kendall and Travis): Programs delivered to children ages 0 to 5 years old that utilize fine arts in the curriculum.

For all grant programs, strong preference will be given to (1) requests that have funding from other sources and (2) existing programs. Collaboration with other organizations is also very important to the Foundation.
