Viola W. Bernard Foundation
Grants of up to $20,000 are available to non-profit organizations to benefit at-risk youth and young adults in multiple states, with a primary focus on the tri-state area. Eligible programs should have a mental health component, as funding is provided for innovative projects that address the social and psychological needs of the target group and their families. Grant proposals are accepted to address emerging issues and needs, such as the transition from welfare to work, from dependency to independence, from delinquency and rebellion to cooperation. Opportunities for grant support continuously emerge around social conflicts that often involve the police, school support and social agencies. Previous grantees include organizations that provide legal services to children and families, adoptive support, and programs for incarcerated youth.
