Grants to Pennsylvania nonprofit organizations in eligible areas for programs and projects that benefit local communities. Funding is intended for programs to foster healthy communities, create self-sufficient individuals and families, create a vibrant democracy, and support community projects. Nonprofit organizations must be located within Allegheny County or demonstrate service to Allegheny County residents.

The Foundation will support proposals within the following priority areas:

Additional Eligibility Criteria:

To qualify for grantmaking support from The Pittsburgh Foundation's discretionary funds, applying nonprofit organizations must be:
- Located within Allegheny County or demonstrate service to Allegheny County residents.
- Designated by the IRS as a 501(c)(3) organization. (If the organization does not have 501(c)(3) status, it may apply utilizing a fiscal sponsor.)

Organizations that have been awarded a grant in the last 12-months are not eligible to apply for a grant unless invited.

Pre-Application Information:

Winter 2021-22
- Application Deadline Dec. 1, 2021 (by 5 p.m.)
- For Funding decisions by March 2, 2022

Summer 2022
- March 29, 2022 (by 5 p.m.)
- For Funding decisions by July 20, 2022

Fall 2022
- July 27, 2022 (by 5 p.m.)
- For Funding decisions by Nov. 16, 2022

Dates may be subject to change. The Foundation may adjust the timing of grants in consideration for funding.

Please be aware of application deadlines and decision dates when considering the timing of your application. It may take six to eight weeks from the date of initial inquiry to be invited to submit a full application.
