Grants ranging from $10,001 to $100,000 will be awarded in Canada, the United States, and other specific countries to organizations that are leaders in providing programs that help protect and preserve water in towns, cities, and urbanized areas with populations of more than 10,000 people. Proposals may focus on: Improved control and management of urban storm or rain water; Efficient and innovative use (or capture and reuse) of water in towns and cities; Protection and restoration of urban waterways; and Improved urban water quality.
Synergies between organizations are encouraged.
-Endowment or memorial campaigns
-Conferences, events, or golf tournaments
-Advertising or promotional campaigns, media production, or media buys
-Travel-related events, including student trips or tours
-The creation or repair of statues, monuments, art work, or beautification projects
-The publication of books or movie productions
-Religious or sectarian elements or outcomes
-Lobbying or political action as a primary goal

Organizations applying for RBC Blue Water Project grants must be:
-A Canada Revenue Agency (CRA) registered charity or other qualified donee in Canada
-Be an IRS 501(c)3 charity in the United States.
-Or if outside Canada or the United States, have official charitable status as designated by local regulatory authorities. See page 8 of application for a full list of eligible countries.
-Post-secondary institutions that have received capital funding from RBC in the last ten years
-Organizations that the funder already support, directly or indirectly, through federated appeals such as United Way/Centraide
-Political or fraternal organizations, Service Clubs, or third-party organizations that raise funds for charity
-Private (fee based) elementary or secondary schools
-Religious organizations, unless they are engaged in a significant project benefiting the entire community
-Sports teams (unless they are a qualified donee)
-Organizations with goals that are purely research
-Organizations solely infrastructure related

-Expression of Interest applications must be received by January 11th, 2013 (11:59 PM EST).
-Applicants will be notified of decision on Expression of Interest submissions January 28th, 2013.
-Applicants will be notified of funding decisions May 15th, 2013.
