Mini-Grants from $250 to $2,000 will be awarded in Howard County, Maryland to non-profit organizations to benefit the community through pilot projects, organizational improvements, and equipment purchases. Funds are intended for use in the areas of human services, arts, culture, education, environment and community affairs.

The most competitive proposals will demonstrate practical solutions and efforts at prevention, collaboration, and volunteer support.

Not funded:
-Expenses already incurred
-Programming that promotes religious instructions or doctrine
-Seed money or start-up funding

Additional Eligibility Criteria:

The Columbia Foundation considers mini-grant applications from organizations that:
-Are determined as charitable under Section 501(c)(3) of the Internal Revenue Code or other entities that meet IRS charitable guidelines.
-Deliver services to Howard County residents in the areas of human services, arts & culture, education, environment, or community affairs.

NOT ELIGIBLE:
-Organizations with budgets over $750,000
-Individuals
-Private foundations
-Supporting organizations
-Public schools or agencies will typically not receive mini-grants, although they may be involved as partners in funded efforts

Pre-Application Information:

-Organizations may not receive funding from the Community Grants Program and the Mini-Grants Program in the same calendar year.

-Organizations may submit multiple mini-grant requests throughout the year however, funding will only be awarded once per calendar year (January 1 – December 31).

-Notification of mini-grant awards will be made within 30 days of the end of the due date.
