Grant Description
Grants to Arizona government entities, fire departments, law enforcement agencies, and tribal governments in eligible locations for projects that promote emergency preparedness. Funding is intended for a wide range of activities that help to prepare and respond to acts of terrorism. Eligible applicants are located in Phoenix.

The  UASI program funds addressed the unique risk-driven and capabilities-based planning, organization, equipment, training, and exercise needs of high-threat, high-density Urban Areas based on the capability targets identified during the THIRA process and associated assessment efforts; and assist them in building enhanced and sustainable capacity to prevent, protect against, mitigate, respond to, and recover from acts of terrorism.

- Local units of government: Municipal/County law enforcement; Fire departments/Fire districts
- County agencies
- Tribal governments

Ineligible
Not Eligible:
- Nonprofit entities
- For-profit businesses
- K-12 schools

Requests for the following types of equipment will be
disallowed:
- Weapons and/or things that mount to weapons
- Ammunition
- General use software

Timeline:
- January 10, 2023: Application Portal Opens
- February 28, 2023: Deadline to Submit Applications, by NLT 5:00 pm
- March 1 - March 15, 2023: Phoenix Homeland Defense Bureau/AZDOHS Programmatic and Financial Review of Applications
- March 16 - March 23, 2023: UASI Subcommittees to Review/Prioritize Projects
- April 11, 2023: Co-Chair Funding Recommendation Meeting
- April 11, 2023: Urban Area Working Group Meeting
- April -May 2023: Phoenix Homeland Defense Bureau Writes Investment Justification/Application; Final Investment Justification/Application is Reviewed and Submitted to USDHS
- July - August 2023: US DHS/FEMA Reviews Application; USDHS Announces Awards; Final Awards to Stakeholders (NLT 45 days after official Grant Award Notice)
- October 1, 2023: Period of Performance Start Date
