Arts for Academic Achievement

Grants of up to $1,500 will be available to Minneapolis, Minnesota public school (MPS) teachers, teaching artists, and arts organizations for arts education and arts integration programs. All programs or projects must take place in, or in partnership with, a Minneapolis public school. Grants are specific to SSD#1.
The AAA staff will review applications and make funding decisions based on the following criteria:
* Student Contact – Number of students reached, and amount of time spent engaging each student.
* Artistic Integrity – This is loosely defined as: Addresses K-12 Arts Standards, authentic artistic process, development of 21st Century Skills, teaching Habits of Mind. Other justifications for artistic integrity will be taken into account.
* Cultural appropriateness – Work honors the urban environment and diverse culture of MPS
* Student Growth – Expected skill/s development
* Project/Program History and past impacts
* Future of the project/program – Long term effects and/or sustainability
* Level of collaboration between Teacher and Teaching Artist/Arts Organization
* Ability of project/program participants to effectively carry out the activity
