Request a Grant Writer

Grants of up to $2,000 to Hernando County, Florida public school teachers for projects and special programs that are outside of the school budget. Funding is disbursed on a first-come, first-served basis from June 2015 through February 6, 2016. Allowable expenditures include programmatic staff, appropriate training or conferences, professional and technical services, classroom materials, computer software, computer hardware, other equipment, program supplies, travel and printing.

Please note that all projects require a community or business sector partnership that is directly related to the activities or engaged in the project.

All grant requests must fit within the School Boards Strategic Plan, follow Common Core Standards or fit within your School’s Improvement Plan.

Estimated Size of Grant:

Individual Projects: Up to $500.
Group Projects: Up to $2,000.

Term of Contract:

Projects must take place during the 2015 - 2016 school year. A year-end evaluation is due May 15, 2016.

Additional Eligibility Criteria:

Only Hernando County School Board instructional personnel may apply for funding; however, those instructional personnel at Hernando County charter schools are also welcome to apply.

Non-allowable expenditures for classroom mini grants include: administrative expenses, capital improvements, support of interscholastic athletics, refreshments, decorative items, awards for outstanding service, and the entertainment of dignitaries.

Pre-Application Information:

The Mini Classroom Grants can be submitted between June 2015 through February 6, 2016. Funding will be distributed monthly to qualified approved applicants on a first come first serve basis. The classroom grant application cycle will remain open until available funds are expended or February 6, 2016, whichever comes first.

Matching funds used for this project that have been raised by your community partners, PTA, SAC, etc. must be passed through the HCEF to assist in meeting the State’s 1:1 match requirements.

All technology related grant applications must be accompanied by the Hernando County School Board Mobile Device Purchase Request form.

Hand written applications will not be accepted. Applications must be submitted electronically to brinker_t@hcsb.k12.fl.us.
