Grant Description
Grants of up to $3,000 to Oregon nonprofit organizations for projects that benefit communities in eligible locations. Funding is intended to promote and support access to and participation in activities related to culture, heritage, humanities, and the arts. Eligible programs and services are those that serve residents of Jackson County.

JCCC makes grants only for projects within Jackson County that support and promote:

  • Participation in and access to cultural activities, the arts, heritage, and humanities, for all residents of Jackson County; and/or
  • Cultural and educational opportunities, especially for youth, in Jackson County.

  • Seeks to balance the allocation of monies to arts, heritage, and humanities projects based on the quality and diversity of grant applications it receives.
  • Values programs that increase awareness and appreciation of local cultural diversity and promote greater inclusivity of diverse artists, groups, and community members.
  • Values “start-up funding” for smaller cultural entities that helps them become better established and engage in projects that serve their neighborhoods and communities.
  • Provides some monies as a demonstration of local support to better position organizations for additional funding from larger foundations and grant-giving organizations.
  • Prefers to support new projects rather than consecutive year funding of the same project.
  • Does not favor proposals seeking funding for marketing, transportation, or for providing free tickets.

Examples of eligible projects include: events or programs for galleries, museums, support of public art and art education, cultural fairs and festivals; concerts or theater series; enrichment and education efforts associated with varied fields including history, philosophy, languages, literature, archaeology, ethics, etc.

Additional Eligibility Criteria
Tax-exempt organizations or organizations that have fiscal sponsors that are tax exempt organizations may apply.

The Jackson County Cultural Coalition will give preference to organizations with headquarters in Jackson County.

Individuals are not eligible for a grant.

Any organization that received funding for a 2023 project but did not complete all required JCCC reports by the stated deadlines will not be considered, unless other arrangements have been made with the JCCC.

Funds may not be used for project expenditures taking place prior to January 1 or after December 31 of the designated grant year.

Funding is not generally available for building repairs or renovations. However, if your project supports access or reflects a clear emergency need, the JCCC may make an exception. For example, an access ramp supporting ADA compliance would be a reasonable request, as would bilingual signage. Emergency repairs needed to preserve artistic, heritage or cultural resources may also be considered.

The JCCC does not consider requests to support endowments.

The JCCC does not consider requests to support general operating expenses.

The JCCC does not favor proposals seeking funding for marketing, transportation, or for providing free tickets.
