Grants of generally up to $50,000 to local Wisconsin organizations and agencies that provide high-quality, effective services for the benefit of those living and working in Chippewa and/or Eau Claire Counties. Intent to Apply forms are due by 4:00 PM on March 21, 2014. These grants are specifically intended to support proposals addressing one or more of the following focus areas: education, income (e.g., employment skill development and personal money management), health, and basic needs (e.g., food, shelter, clothing, medical care, and dental care).

Estimated Size of Grant:

Typically, basic needs grants are funded at a level up to $50,000. Larger amounts may be requested, depending on the quality and magnitude of the program.

Term of Contract:

The three-year funding cycle begins on July 1, 2015.

Additional Eligibility Criteria:

All types of organizations are welcome to apply. There are no program longevity requirements, meaning that new and existing programs are eligible.

Please Note:
- All programs applying for funding must be able to answer affirmatively to the following questions:
* Does your organization serve the residents of Chippewa and/or Eau Claire Counties?
* Does your program address one or more of the outcomes included in the community action plans for education, income or health, or provide the basic needs outlined on the United Way's basic needs page?

- Only organizations that have already submitted an Intent Form and received approval are eligible to submit a full application.

- Organizations may apply for multiple grants, but only one grant per program.

Pre-Application Information:

Before submitting an application, agencies must first submit an Intent to Apply form. After reviewing the information contained in this form, you will be notified whether or not you qualify and can submit a full application.

Key Dates:
-Intent to Apply forms due: March 21, 2014, 4:00 PM (Deadline)
-Based on Intent to Apply forms, qualified applicants will be invited to submit a full application: April 30, 2014
-Application information and assistance sessions: April and May, 2014
-Full applications due to United Way office: June 30, 2014 (Deadline)
-Review applications, conduct site visits, and determine best applications: July through October, 2014
-Advisory councils make funding recommendations to Community Mobilization Committee: November, 2014
-United Way Board makes final funding decisions: January 16, 2015
-Announce grant awards: January 30, 2015
-Sign agreements for funding: March 31, 2015 (Deadline)
-Funding begins: July 1, 2015

Note: If no applications are received to address a particular outcome, or if those received do not adequately fulfill the qualifications, United Way reserves the right to seek out and fund a program (or programs) to fulfill specific needs, even if “Intent to Apply” forms or applications were not submitted during the regular application cycle.
