Grant Description

Grants of up to $30,000 to Ontario registered charities and nonprofit organizations in eligible locations for community benefit activities. Funding is intended for programs and projects within the focus areas of human services, children, youth, environment, community education, arts, culture, heritage, health and healthy living, neighborhood projects, sports, and recreation. Eligible applicants serve Mississauga communities.

Applications will be evaluated in part based on their ability to demonstrate a commitment to the following principles:

  • Efficiency

Additional Eligibility Criteria:

In general, eligible organizations are registered charities with the CRA and have been in operation for two or more years. Not-for-profits are also welcome to apply as long as this is done in partnership with a registered charity that submits the application and receives the funding.

The Community Foundation of Mississauga is proud to support Mississauga-based charities or charities having an impact on Mississauga communities.

Registered charitable organizations serving people in Mississauga are eligible to apply for project grants. This may include religious organizations. However, the project proposal submitted cannot be religious in nature. This includes operating costs, facilities and activities that are being used for religious observance or proselytizing. The project being considered must align with the Foundation's funding priorities.

In general, The Pendle Fund at the Community Foundation of Mississauga will not provide funding for the following:
- Deficit reduction
- Ongoing operating expenses
- Fundraising events or campaigns and salaries in support of them
- Political or religious activities
- Individuals
- Sponsorships
- Scholarships or bursaries (excepting those where the scholarship/bursary selection criteria is provided with the grant application, the anticipated learning experience is consistent with the objectives of the Fund and the scholarship/bursary will be awarded in the Fund name as directed by the Foundation)
- Retroactive funding for any project expenses to be incurred prior to the Foundation’s decision date
- Debt retirement or reserves, mortgage pay-downs
- Programs and services delivered outside of Mississauga

The Community Foundation of Mississauga will not fund the same project twice through different streams/funds.

Pre-Application Information:

The grant cycle is opening soon on February 14, 2022.
Applications are due March 25, 2022 at 5:00 pm sharp. They are only accepted via email.

Grants are generally approved in April. Your organization will be notified if your application has been successful.

Funding is to be released via EFT or by cheque in May 2022.

Applicants may submit one unique application to each of the grant streams listed on the URL for Full Text (RFP) provided that they have an initiative that fits with the criteria outlined in the fund’s Overview document.

The Pendle Fund will make grants from $5,000 to $30,000 in 2022.

Term of Contract:

The Community Foundation of Mississauga makes grants in only a single year. This means that no project or program should expect to receive funding in multiple years.
