Grants and in-kind support to California and Oregon K-12 teachers in eligible counties to develop and present science projects. Funding is intended to create and display science projects and for general science education programs for K-12 students. Schools in all California counties are eligible, as well as schools located in Hillsboro, Oregon. The program provides science project poster boards, science fair collateral materials, data measuring devices, and financial assistance for teachers and schools.

Understanding most teachers and students are currently working remotely, flexible resources have been added to this year’s package. In addition to the traditional supplies, teachers in Santa Clara County will be eligible to receive a membership to either RAFT, CASE, or NSTA – all of which will provide you with additional training and resources to help you execute project-based STEM remotely. You will also have the option of selecting one classroom kit that can be broken down and distributed to students outside of school.

Estimated Size of Grant:

East Side Union High School District: $200 per project payable to the teacher. Teachers with participants in sciencepalooza! may receive $150 per project.

Additional Eligibility Criteria:

East Side Union High School District
- Eligible teachers are those who intend to devote time outside normal classroom hours for projects entered in The 2020 Synopsys Championship and/or sciencepalooza! 2020. The 21st annual sciencepalooza! is scheduled for February 1, 2020 at the Santa Clara County Fair Grounds.

Santa Clara County, CA
- For teachers at public schools, dependent charter schools, independent charter schools with 501(c)(3) public charity status, and private non-profit schools with 501(c)(3) public charity status located in Santa Clara County, CA.

Schools in All California Counties Except Santa Clara
- For teachers at public schools, dependent charter schools, independent charter schools with 501(c)(3) public charity status and private non-profit schools with 501(c)(3) public charity status located in California.

Hillsboro, Oregon
- For teachers at public schools, dependent charter schools, independent charter schools with 501(c)(3) public charity status, and private non-profit schools with 501(c)(3) public charity status located in Hillsboro, OR affiliated with the local office of Synopsys, Inc.

Pre-Application Information:

Science Project Package applications for Hillsboro OR, Santa Clara County, and Greater California will re-open January 1st – January 15th.

East Side Union High School District:
- Understand that the number of Science Project Package Units is limited, and the application process will CLOSE once the quota is reached.

Santa Clara County, CA:
This is a two-step process:
1. Individual teachers apply and
2. Upon approval of the application, teachers confer and choose one school captain who will be responsible for placing one order for science project materials for your school.
- Materials are limited. The application process will close once the foundation’s budget allotment is reached.
