Grants to Ontario nonprofit organizations and groups for operating expenses incurred to provide a clean, safe venue for arts, cultural, and heritage events for Mississauga residents and visitors. Applicants may be required to attend an information session before applying.

Funding is available in these categories:

  1. New and Emerging Festivals and Celebrations
  2. Established Festivals and Celebrations
  3. Major One-Time Events
  4. Multi-Year Funded Festivals

Estimated Size of Grant:

The amount of funding an organization is eligible to apply for is based on the eligibility levels:
- New and Emerging: May apply for up to 30% of the festival's total operating budget or $15,000, whichever is less.
- Established: May apply for up to 30% of the festival's total operation budget or $120,000, whichever is less.
- One-Time Major Events: May apply for up to 30% of the festival's operating budget or $50,000, whichever is less.
- Multi-Year: May apply for up to 30% of the festivals total operating budget or $120,000, whichever is less.

Term of Contract:

Multi-Year category: Three-year funding

Additional Eligibility Criteria:

Eligible applicants
- Mississauga-based organizations may apply.

Grants are not available for:
- Festivals/celebrations held outside the City of Mississauga
- Festivals/celebrations already funded through other City programs
- Festivals/celebrations whose primary theme or focus is not arts, heritage or cultural
- Sports and athletic events, runs, or walks
- Religious rites and ceremonies
- Festivals/celebrations with a predominant commercial purpose
- Festivals/celebrations with a predominant fundraising purpose
- Contests and competitions
- Demonstrations, marches, rallies
- Trade shows and trade fairs
- Conferences, workshops, training, and professional development
- Block parties, picnics, garden shows, street markets, carnivals
- Stand-alone parades
- Festivals/celebrations not open to the general public
- Retroactive expenses or accumulated deficits
- Capital projects
- Organizations or activities that the City deems may promote discrimination, contempt or hatred for any individual or entity

Pre-proposal Conference:

Applicants that have not received a CFC grant in the past two years are required to attend an information session to be eligible for funding.

All other applicants are strongly encouraged to attend to hear about the grant process, the requirements, tips for success and to ask questions.
