Montana Community Foundation (MCF) and School Community Development Council (SCDC)
Grants to Montana nonprofit organizations, governmental units, and charitable entities for programs and projects that strengthen the rural community of Powder River. Eligible applicant organizations are those that were founded with educational, charitable, and/or spiritual purposes in mind. Preference is given to projects that benefit a significant number of both young and elderly members of the community.
One of the goals of the group that oversees the Powder River Community Endowment Fund is to maintain rural characteristics within the community while at the same time improving the local quality of life.

Most desirable projects will be those that can be accomplished within a one-year timeframe. If you are a recipient of the grant monies but do not use the funds within the grant cycle year, please contact the SCDC to apply for an extension of time for the project to be done.
Most desirable recipients are those that were founded with charitable, religious, or educational purposes in mind. The following are eligible to apply for grants: 501(c)(3) organizations, exempt governmental units, and other charitable entities.
Organizations with other dependable sources of funding available to them or with purposes that will benefit very few are examples of least desirable recipients.
Ineligible organizations are those that are discriminatory in any manner or whose function is not for the public good.
Least desirable projects would be those where funds are used to pay normal operating expenses, recurring expenses, or upon completion, the project will benefit only a small group of persons.

Please Note: Most desirable projects will have at least a 50% match of other cash funds in relation to PRCEF grant funds. Least desirable projects will be those that request 100% funding from PRCEF grant funds. Evidence of planning and collaboration between organizations for the completion of projects will also be perceived positively.
