Awards of $5,000 to Washington K-12 teachers to recognize outstanding efforts in educating students about the environment through project-based learning experiences. The purpose of the award is to recognize educators for their commitment to creating equitable learning experiences that have an impact on kids, their communities, and the planet.

Candidates for the Patsy Collins Award should exhibit these qualities:

  • Engage students in project-based experiences that motivate and inspire students toward environmental awareness and/or stewardship behaviors
  • Design learning experiences with an equity orientation to engage all learners, including those from historically marginalized or nondominant communities

This year, six teachers will be selected.

The award includes a $5,000 cash prize.

Additional Eligibility Criteria:

Washington State K-12 classroom teachers in a public or private school are eligible for nomination.
