Grants of up to $12,500 to Texas nonprofit organizations, agencies, and educational institutions to benefit local communities in eligible counties. Funding is intended for initiatives to improve community health. Applicants must operate in at least one of the eight counties of the Foundation’s service area: Atascosa, Bandera, Bexar, Comal, Guadalupe, Kendall, Medina, and Wilson.

Baptist Health Foundation of San Antonio provides grants to support smaller initiatives and organizations that have a large impact on community health. Priority is given to the support of grassroots health activities, church health ministry development, and increased capacity to provide health services. Each request must relate to health in a way that is clinical, educational, spiritual, or scientific.

Additional Eligibility Criteria:

Organizations must be:
- Classified by the IRS as a 501(c)(3) or under the Internal Revenue Code 170 as an educational organization or governmental unit eligible to receive charitable contributions;
- In existence for more than one year following date of IRS ruling; and
- Operating in at least one of the eight Texas counties of the Foundation’s service area: Atascosa, Bandera, Bexar, Comal, Guadalupe, Kendall, Medina, and Wilson;

Additionally, organizations must have:
- A dedicated checking account with ability to receive electronic direct deposits;
- Financial and program records kept and maintained; and
- An operating budget, approved annually by the organization’s board;

Specific Grant Requirements:
- The organization must have had less than $250,000 in actual revenue during either of the two most recently completed fiscal years*;
- The organization must have an annual operating budget of at least $15,000;
- The application amount must not exceed 20 percent of the organization’s operating budget; and
* Churches are exempt from this requirement

Individuals cannot apply.

The Foundation does not fund:
- Automobiles and passenger vans;
- Endowments;
- Multiple requests from an organization (or affiliate organization, as listed on the Form 990);
- Annual fund drives, galas, telethons or special events; or
- Requests exceeding 25 percent of an organization’s operating budget.

Once the window for applications opens (in accordance with the timeline below), a link for application submissions will appear beneath the picture. If there is any uncertainty regarding requirements, please contact the Foundation before submitting the application.

- An application may only be submitted online during the specified date range: July 1-31, 2022
- Site Visit: October 2022. Given current uncertainty caused by COVID-19, the Foundation will contact applicants in September to coordinate in-person or virtual site visits.
- Decision: November 2022. Grantees will be notified following final approval by the trustees. Applicants should only inquire about the status of an application if notification has not been received by Nov. 18, 2022.

Once an application is submitted, a confirmation email will be sent. Foundation administrative staff will reach out within the next month for further details.
