Grant Description
In-kind donations of consulting services to Texas nonprofit and for-profit social impact organizations in eligible areas to build capacity and improve organizational effectiveness. In addition, one organization will receive a $2,500 prize. The goal of the program is to help organizations deliver effective programs, fulfill their mission, and advance social innovation in North Texas.

Social Venture Partners (“SVP”) builds powerful relationships among people who want to give back and the social impact organizations that make change possible. SVP is a diverse group of individual donors (“Partners”) – business people, entrepreneurs, and social impact leaders – who combine their skills, resources, and networks to help social impact organizations succeed. SVP focuses its philanthropy on capacity building, and work with you to strengthen your organization and increase your impact in the community.

Additional Eligibility Criteria
Social impact organizations (both for profit and nonprofit) may apply.

To be a viable candidate you should have at a minimum:
An executive director, a board, revenue approaching $100K or more, be in good standing with the IRS, be an organization that does not proselytize or require the following of a particular faith.

SVP believes we have the greatest opportunity working with social impact organizations that have:
• A shared understanding of the importance of building internal organizational capacity to achieve their mission;
• A clearly articulated mission for the organization’s programs and infrastructure;
• Strong, stable and committed leadership;
• The internal capacity (staff, board & financial resources) to embrace an SVP partnership, which includes regular self- assessment, working with volunteers, and committing to reviewing documents and materials relevant to project work;
• A track record of successful collaboration and/or partnership, indicating the organization’s ability to embrace and benefit from SVP’s mentorship and other in-kind services, as well as SVP’s financial support;
• Proven results indicating the desire to expand, replicate or otherwise leverage success by addressing root causes of major community issues;
• Specific internal organizational challenges that currently prevent achievement of their full potential.

Pre-Application Information
Applications are now open. Apply before February 24, 2023 at 5:00 pm CST.

Following your application, the selection committee of Partners will review the applications and select the organizations that will move on to the next round, which entails site visits and conversations with the CEO, Executive Director, and/or member(s) of the board.

January 25, 2023 – Applications Open
February 24, 2023 – Applications Due by 5 PM
Week of April 3rd, 2023 – Applicants notified for site visits
Week of April 24th, 2023 - Selected organizations invited to present their organization and project at Spark Tank, where SVP partners will select advisees and winner of cash prize.
Week of May 15th, 2023 - Spark Tank – organizations will pitch for a $2,500 prize (selected by attending SVP members); SVP partners will sign up for advisee projects first week of June projects begin.

Estimated Size of Grant
Selected advisees will receive pro bono consulting initially through one short-term capacity building project. SVP partners provide advisees with strategic advice and coaching on the most important challenges or opportunities. Along with additional pro bono consulting over an extended period, investees also receive financial grants. SVP Dallas will consider making a financial grant or investment only to social impact organizations that are selected as an advisee and complete at least one successful capacity building project.

One organization will win a $2,500 prize.

Term of Contract
Typically, advisees will stay in the portfolio for no more than 1 year.
