Grants to Oregon federally recognized tribes for activities that enhance the quality of life in tribal communities. Funding is intended to support programs and projects in the areas of education, historic preservation, arts and culture, health, environmental preservation, public safety, and problem gaming.

Spirit Mountain Community Fund strives to be flexible, adaptive and responsive in its grantmaking which is reflected in its seven broad programmatic areas. For information about the above program areas, see: https://www.thecommunityfund.com/eligibility/what-we-fund/

Tribes may submit a project request for work in any of the seven programmatic areas. Priority consideration will be given to projects that focus on SMCF's eight priority funding areas that they call P8s. All P8s fall within the programmatic areas of Education, Environmental Preservation and Health. Spirit Mountain Community Fund accepts proposals from Oregon's nine federally recognized Tribes for the annual Oregon Tribal Grant:

- Burns Paiute Tribe
- Confederated Tribes of Coos, Lower Umpqua & Siuslaw
- Coquille Indian Tribe
- Cow Creek Band of Umpqua Indians
- The Confederated Tribes of Grand Ronde
- The Klamath Tribes
- Confederated Tribes of Siletz
- Confederated Tribes of Warm Springs
- Confederated Tribes of Umatilla

Pre-Application Information:

LOIs for the 2022 Oregon Tribal Grant program will be accepted April 1, 2022 - May 3, 2022.

Application Process:
SMCF’s two-stage application process begins with a Letter of Inquiry (LOI), followed by a full application (if selected to move forward by the Board of Trustees). Decisions are based on the merits of the proposed project and its alignment with SMCF’s funding priorities.

Tribal grant LOIs must include an approved Tribal Resolution in support of the specific proposed project/program to be undertaken.

Applicants may only submit one LOI at a time.
