Grants to California arts organizations for programming to benefit local residents in eligible locations. Due to Coronavirus (COVID-19) restrictions, proposals for virtual programs are encouraged. Eligible projects and events directly benefit children, adults, and schools in Newport Beach.

Each year, the City of Newport Beach distributes funds to arts organizations, enabling them to expand arts programs offered to the local community. Arts organizations must propose projects/programs for funding that directly benefit children and adults living in Newport Beach, and schools only within the City’s geographic boundaries. Collaborative events, such as public performances or programs implemented in conjunction with the City of Newport Beach are also eligible for grants.

Additional Eligibility Criteria:

To apply, arts organizations are required to meet the following criteria:
- Only arts organizations are eligible; grants are not awarded to individual artists.
- The Arts Commission funds only arts projects/programs which will be presented before the designated dates, not general operating expenses
.- Because of COVID-19 related restrictions on public gatherings, arts organizations that received cultural arts grants during 2019-20 will not be required to complete and return their Cultural Arts Grant Completion Report until the arts organization presents the grant-funded programming.

To be considered for a Cultural Arts Grant, the application must be completed according to the instructions and received at the Library’s Administrative Office by 4:00 p.m. on Monday, January 11, 2021. This is not a postmark

2020-21 Cultural Arts Grant Timeline:
- 2/01/2020: Application period opens.
- 01/11/2021: Grant applications are due.
- 02/01/2021: Subcommittee's recommendation is submitted to staff for inclusion in monthly agenda packet.
- 02/11/2021: City Arts Commission approves grantees for recommendation to City Council.
- 02/23/2021: Recommendations made to City Council.
- 05/13/2021: Grant awards disseminated.
- 01/14/2022: 2020-21 Cultural Arts Grant Completion Report due.
- 01/14/2022: 2020-21 Grant funds must have been spent or encumbered.
