California Retirement Management Account (CARMA)
Grants to California nonprofit organizations to preserve the well-being of Thoroughbred horses after they have been retired from their racing careers. Funding is intended to support basic needs as well as placement in homes and in second careers. To be eligible, horses must have raced at participating track facilities in California.
The California Retirement Management Account (CARMA) is dedicated to preserving and protecting the quality of life for Thoroughbred horses after their racing careers have ended. The program assists farms and facilities with basic needs and help fund programs that place horses in second careers and homes. It seeks to provide a quality retirement environment for former stars, and therefore funds are earmarked for horses that have raced at participating track facilities in California.
