Grants of up to $5,000 to North Carolina nonprofit organizations, governmental and educational institutions, and faith-based organizations in eligible locations to improve the quality of life for local residents. Funding is intended for programs and projects in the following investment areas: health, education (including early childhood school readiness), human services, arts and culture, and workforce development. A priority will be given to activities in the areas of education, health, and human services. Activities should benefit residents of the Lexington area.

Additional Eligibility Criteria:

Grants must be awarded to eligible organizations including 501(c)(3) nonprofit organizations, congregations, governmental and educational institutions for projects that will serve the residents of the Lexington, NC area.

If the organization conducting the project does not meet these criteria, you can apply for a grant under the fiscal sponsorship of an eligible organization.

Congregations, churches, and religious organizations which do not have 501(c)(3) public charity status may still qualify as eligible charities.

Please note that for-profit businesses are not eligible for funding.

Please note, the following areas do not fall within the Lexington Area Community Foundation’s current funding priorities:
- Capital campaign requests
- Debt retirement/deficit funding
- Duplication of existing programs
- Endowment funds
- Publication of books
- Projects typically the funding responsibility of government
- Sponsorships or fundraisers

Please note, the following areas are ineligible for funding:
- Projects that promote specific political or religious views
- Political or lobbying activities

Deadline Date (EST Time Zone): 8/19/2022 12:00 PM
Award & Decline Notifications: October 2022

The application system closes promptly at noon on the due date and will not accept late submissions.

Award and decline notifications will be made via email in mid-late October.

Requests for projects/programs should not duplicate existing services. Grants may be awarded to organizations funded in the past, but not typically to fund the same or similar project/program for more than three years.

The Foundation will award grants up to $5,000 to eligible organizations. The Board may consider a $10,000 grant for a New and Innovative project.
