Grants to Connecticut nonprofit organizations serving eligible locations to address the housing needs of underserved populations. Funding is intended for programs within the focus areas of housing, health, and human services. Special consideration is given to organizations that provide housing maintenance and human services programming to needy populations. Preference is given to organizations serving the people of Litchfield, Connecticut. Organizations serving the towns contiguous to Litchfield (including Cornwall, Goshen, Harwinton, Morris, Thomaston, Torrington, Warren, Washington, and Watertown) will also be considered.
Applicants must be classified by the Internal Revenue Service (IRS) as a 501(c)(3) public charity.
Ineligible
The foundations do not consider grant requests from individuals and do not support organizations attempting to influence policy through direct lobbying or any political campaigns.
Pre-Application Information
The deadline for application to the Lena Benas Memorial Fund is November 1. Please submit online applications by 11:59 p.m. on the day of the foundation’s deadline date. If the deadline falls on a weekend or a federally recognized holiday, applications are due on the next business day by 11:59 p.m.
Applicants will be notified of grant decisions by letter within 2 months after the proposal deadline.
