Grants to Texas nonprofit organizations in eligible locations to meet the basic needs of impoverished residents. Funding is intended to serve individuals by providing them with clothing and food. Grant funds must be used for the purchase of these items for the poor and needy of Dallas County.
The Carrie S. Orleans Trust was established in 1948 under the will of Carrie Orleans for the purpose of purchasing food and clothing for the poor and needy of Dallas County without regard to race, creed or color.
Applicants must be classified by the Internal Revenue Service (IRS) as a 501(c)(3) public charity. The foundations do not consider grant requests from individuals and do not support organizations attempting to influence policy through direct lobbying or any political campaigns.
Due to the limited amount of grant dollars available to distribute each year, the Trust will only accept online grant applications from organizations with annual operating budgets of less than $20 million.
The application deadline for the Carrie S. Orleans Trust is August 1.
Decision timeframe: 3-4 months.
Please submit online applications by 11:59 p.m. on the day of the foundation’s deadline date. If the application deadline date falls on a weekend or a federally recognized holiday, the deadline is not extended, therefore applications must be submitted on the prior business day by 11:59 p.m.
Distributions are always made immediately following Thanksgiving Day.
Online grant applications will be accepted 24-hours a day, 7 days a week, generally on, or prior to the proposal due date. However, applicant inquiries can only be answered during normal business hours, Monday through Friday, 9 a.m. – 5 p.m. CT.
Please be advised that technical support is only provided Monday through Friday, 9 a.m. – 5 p.m. EST and not provided on weekends for password resets or general technical inquiries. Therefore, it is best to start your application early, seek technical support during business hours, and to submit your application in advance of the due date.
