Consultant to Advance DFTA Role in Medicaid Redesign and Healthcare Reform

Grant Description

One grant of up to $98,000 to a New York City qualified consulting firm or consultant to assist the successful involvement of the funding source and its network of providers in healthcare reform initiatives as it relates to the aging population. The consultant will attend various planning and development meetings on the funding source's behalf, and create and execute a plan for the enhancement and development of the programmatic and administrative aspects of funding source health programs.

While progress has been made in developing relationships and fully understanding the nuances of Medicaid reform in New York, more needs to be done in order for Department for the Aging (DFTA) to be fully recognized as a partner and resource for Medicaid enrollees, health plans and performing provider systems.

Additional Eligibility Criteria:

Preferred Qualifications:

-Understanding of and/or experience with the New York State Medicaid Program including Medicaid Redesign, DSRIP, and other waiver programs; the Affordable Care Act at a federal level; Medicare programs relevant to the older adult population.

-Understanding of the financial, programmatic, and administrative policies and regulations of Area Agencies on the Aging as laid out in the Older Americans Act and carried out by the Administration on Community Living and NY State Office for the Aging.

-Understanding of New York State and New York City laws and regulations as it relates to DFTA and the older adult population.

-Familiarity with DFTA-funded aging services.

-Familiarity with the long-term care continuum and emerging models of care and service delivery.

-Familiarity with Medicaid care/service delivery models in other States.

-Experience with working with government aging services providers on projects similar to those described above.
