Grant Description
Grants to Massachusetts nonprofit and faith-based organizations, and municipalities in eligible communities to enhance the quality of life for local residents. Funding is intended to assist the community by focusing attention on filling the needs of residents, and programs that benefit people in a wide variety of focus areas. Eligible organizations and activities must benefit the residents of Nantucket.

The Foundation encourages grant requests for projects and programs on Nantucket that are likely to have substantial impact on the quality of life of people in the community, especially in the following areas

  • Mental Health
  • Substance Use
  • Housing
  • Affordable Childcare
  • Year-round transportation
  • Senior Well-Being
  • Diversity Initiatives

In addition, grant requests should: propose practical ways to address community issues and challenges, leverage other sources of support (i.e. funds or volunteers), stimulate others to participate in addressing community challenges, assist nonprofit organizations to maximize effective management, are cooperative efforts, which minimize or eliminate duplication of service, are sustainable over time.

Additional Eligibility Criteria
Nantucket Fund grants are available only to organizations with 501(c)(3) tax status, municipalities, or religious organizations that deliver programs and services to Nantucket residents.

Ineligible
The Foundation has limited resources, so there are restrictions on the scope of activities the Foundation is able to support. In general, the Foundation does NOT grant funds for:
1. Unrestricted general operating expenses;
2. Endowment funds;
3. Religious organizations for religious purposes;
4. Fundraising activities or events;
5. Umbrella funding organizations that intend to distribute funds at their own discretion;
6. Political lobbying or legislative activities;
7. Individuals.

Pre-Application Information
Deadline: Submit applications by September 15, 2023.
