Grants to Massachusetts nonprofit and faith-based organizations and municipalities in eligible regions to enhance the quality of life for local residents. Funding is intended to support programs and services within the focus areas of mental health, substance abuse, housing, childcare, transportation, seniors, and diversity. Eligible organizations and activities must benefit the residents of Nantucket.

The Foundation encourages grant requests for projects and programs on Nantucket that are likely to have substantial impact on the quality of life of people in the community, especially in the following areas

  • Mental Health
  • Substance Use
  • Housing
  • Affordable Childcare
  • Year-round transportation
  • Senior Well-Being
  • Diversity Initiatives

Eligible proposals:

  • Propose practical ways to address community issues and challenges
  • Leverage other sources of support (i.e. funds or volunteers)
  • Stimulate others to participate in addressing community challenges
  • Assist nonprofit organizations to maximize effective management
  • Are cooperative efforts, which minimize or eliminate duplication of services
  • Are sustainable over time

Additional Eligibility Criteria:

Nantucket Fund grants are available only to organizations with 501(c)(3) tax status, municipalities, or religious organizations that deliver programs and services to Nantucket residents.

The Foundation has limited resources, so there are restrictions on the scope of activities the Foundation is able to support.  In general, the Foundation does NOT grant funds for:
1. Unrestricted general operating expenses;
2. Endowment funds;
3. Religious organizations for religious purposes;
4. Fundraising activities or events;
5. Umbrella funding organizations that intend to distribute funds at their own discretion;
6. Political lobbying or legislative activities;
7. Individuals.

Pre-Application Information:

Please note applications will not be accepted before May 15, 2020.

Submit applications by the deadline of 4:30pm on June 16, 2020.
