Grants to Florida nonprofit organizations for programs that benefit local communities in eligible areas. Funding is intended for new or existing projects and activities within the focus areas of health, cultural enrichment, environment, community and social services, and education. Eligible applicants serve the residents of South Sarasota County, including Venice, Englewood, Laurel, Nokomis, and North Port. Grants are awarded to establish, sustain, enhance, and/or expand programs or services.
The Foundation makes all its grants to nonprofit organizations classified as a 501(c)(3) and a copy of the organization’s IRS letter of determination must be provided.
Grant awards may support projects by religious institutions provided the programs/services are principally non-religious in nature and not limited to members of the applicant’s institution or congregation.
Ineligible
Grants are not awarded directly to individuals.
Foundation grants will not fund endowments, debt reduction, basic scientific research, loans, or travel; nor will they be used to cover an organization’s overhead, including administrative salaries and expenses. The Foundation does not fund major capital projects, typically described as bricks & mortar, for the benefit of the agency rather than its clients.
Pre-Application Information
Each grant cycle begins in the fall and applications are accepted throughout the month of September.
Applications will be accepted through 5 pm on September 30, 2023.
Site visits will be conducted for those applicants that move forward in the screening process, based on the cumulative evaluation ranking by the Grants Committee.
The Foundation will normally entertain only one Grant Application per grant cycle/per organization. However, a separate request may also be submitted by a supporting agency if it is a separate federally tax-exempt organization.
Term of Contract
Grant funds must be expended within one year of the award.
