Better Bike Share Partnership - PeopleForBikes Foundation
Grants ranging from $25,000 to $75,000 to USA organizations for academic research projects that aim to increase the understanding of the links between bike share and equity, particularly focused on bike share use by people with low incomes. The funding source's areas of interest include, but are not limited to:
- Economic benefits of bike share: Examination of economic benefits from several perspectives, including how bike share minimizes transportation expenses by providing access to jobs, school and resources; how proximity to bike share affects small and/or local businesses (both for employees and customers); and bike share as a workforce development tool, among others.
- Demographics of bike share riders: Develop a better understanding of who is riding, where they are riding, and why.
- Evaluation of pilot or ongoing interventions in cities with bike share: The Better Bike Share Partnership is providing a third round of grants to support intensive outreach and other efforts in cities across the country. The Foundation will consider a study to examine and/or compare strategies, which may include pricing levels, payment options, partnerships with key local groups, outreach and education efforts, and marketing strategies. The Foundation is interested in research to understand the effectiveness of the efforts, although the research does not need to be limited to the grant-funded projects.
Note: Projects that leverage grant funding with other dollars are preferred.
