In-kind grants to Florida groups, nonprofits, and government institutions in eligible counties for emergency CPR equipment and training. Donated equipment will include an Automated External Defibrillator (AED), one set of adult pads, battery and AED sign and include CPR/AED training for three people that have daily access to this AED.

The AED will be equipped with one set of adult pads, battery and AED sign. AED case, Pediatric pads, fast response kit with scissors, razor, gloves and CPR mask, along with a wall mount may be purchased at the expense of the grant recipient (estimated cost: ~ $300).

Eligible counties include the following: Alachua, Marion, Dixie, Levy, Gilchrist, Columbia, Union, Suwannee and Putman, Clay, Nassau, Duval, St. Johns, and Baker.

The mission of HeartSafe City is to:

1. Increase awareness of how the response time from a bystander who performs CPR within the first couple of minutes can drastically increase the survival rates from sudden cardiac arrest.
2. Offer free CPR training. The goal is to train as many individuals as possible in CPR and AED use.
3. Increase awareness of how the use, proximity, and operation of Automatic External Defibrillators (AED) within the first couple of minutes can drastically increase the chance of survival.
4. Increase the number of Public Access AEDs in a community.

Number of Grants:

Four AEDs a year is the minimum commitment to the community from HeartSafe City Foundation.

Additional Eligibility Criteria:

HeartSafe City Foundation will accept grant requests from organizations, groups, non-profits, government institutions, etc. from the following counties: Alachua, Marion, Dixie, Levy, Gilchrist, Columbia, Union, Suwannee and Putman, Clay, Nassau, Duval, St. Johns, and Baker.

Pre-Application Information:

After an application has been approved for an AED, selected site will be required to:

- Send three members/employees who have daily access to the AED to attend an Adult, Child and Infant CPR/AED certification training provided by GatorCPR: The Center for CPR and Safety Training.
- Create AED Program Action Plan (sample plan included).
- Promote HeartSafe City programs and CPR/AED training in the community in which your organization serves. HeartSafe City staff will work with awarded organization to create promotional program.

After all CPR/AED training has been completed and Action plan has been submitted, the AED, adult pads and AED sign will be delivered to grant recipient.
