Grants to Ontario nonprofit arts organizations in eligible regions to support operations. First-time applicants must contact the Funding Source prior to submitting an application. Grant funds are intended to support the production, distribution, and exhibition of media and visual artworks and other activities that contribute to the development of visual and media arts, artists and audiences in Toronto.

The Visual and Media Arts Program provides Annual Operating support to professional, non-profit, visual and media arts organizations engaged in the exhibition and distribution of contemporary visual and media artworks, support of the production of visual and media artworks and other activities that contribute to the development of visual and media arts, artists and audiences in Toronto.

Visual and Media arts groups supported through this program include: artist-run and public galleries, distribution organizations, arts service organizations, production cooperatives, festivals, exhibition groups and artists’ or curatorial collectives.

In order to support operating companies, the 2021 operating grant program provides two application options:

  • Application Option 1 - Full Grant Request: Application for a grant based on 100% or more of the 2020 operating grant amount. This option is meant for returning applicants with significant activities planned for their 2021-22 request year as well as new applicants to the operating program.
  • Application Option 2 - Voluntary Reduced Grant Request: Application for a grant based on 50% of the 2020 operating grant amount. This option is meant for returning applicants without public activities planned for their 2021-22 request year, that are not entirely ceasing operations, and will resume public activities in 2022-23.
