Grant Description
Grants of up to $5,000 to Minnesota and Wisconsin public and private K-12 schools in eligible locations to enhance the quality of music education. Eligible expenses include instruments, sheet music, community outreach, concerts, guest artists and instructors, composition, and inter- or intra-school collaborations. Schools must be located in the St. Croix Valley, including Washington and Chisago Counties in Minnesota and Pierce, St. Croix, Polk, and Burnett Counties in Wisconsin.

This grant program was made possible by a donor whose gift established an endowed fund specifically for music education. The donor, a former music teacher, wanted to give the gift of music to students, pre-school through high school. The goal of this grant program is to enhance the quality of music education programs in area schools.

Grant funds may supplement, but not replace, schools’ music education budgets.

Additional Eligibility Criteria
To be eligible, the applicant must be a public or private school. Nonprofit arts organizations may not apply for a music education grant directly but may work with a school to take the lead. Applicants must have no outstanding final reports due to the St. Croix Valley Foundation for previous music education grants.

SCVF prefers hands-on vocal or musical activities over technological innovations. Though preference may be given to first-time applicants, the panel encourages applications from all music educators seeking to improve the learning experience.
