Grant Description
Grants to Iowa nonprofit organizations and agencies in eligible locations to meet community needs. Priority funding is intended for projects, programs, and activities in the areas of hunger, homelessness, education, health and wellness, mental health, strong families, public safety, early childhood development, emergency support, and positive youth development. Activities must take place in Fort Dodge/North Central Iowa area.

United Way funds are used to support nonprofit organizations and agencies, and charitable projects that are focused on improving the lives of youth, families and adults. Using a “community impact” model, United Way encourages collaborative planning, shared investment and cooperative action to address challenges and opportunities that impact the common good in the greater Fort Dodge community.

Community Impact Areas

  • Building Youth: Funding from the United Way of Greater Fort Dodge will be allocated to agencies and organizations that offer programs and services that will help youth thrive and reach their full potential academically, socially and developmentally.
  • Building Families: The United Way of Greater Fort Dodge has identified ten strategic priorities that are critical to our long-term goal of building strong youth and strong families. United Way funding priority will be given to organizations and agencies that are addressing one or more of the eight strategic priorities listed here. Using the United Way of America’s Community Impact Model, priority will be given to projects and programs that are collaborative and are able to meet measurable outcomes.
  • Building Community: United Way of Greater Fort Dodge is providing leadership and encouraging all sectors of the community to leverage collective resources and engage citizen talent in an efficient and accountable way to build a vibrant and robust community. Its long-term success will require a combination of commitment, collaboration, resources, energy, and passion. It will also require bold and visionary leadership that can build consensus and move people to action to address current and future needs, challenges and opportunities.
