Grant Description
Grants to British Columbia nonprofit organizations in eligible locations for community events and projects. Funding is intended to enhance the quality of life and promote the well-being of local residents. Grants will support nonprofits that provide services and programs related to arts and culture, heritage, recreation, sport, environment, health, and social services. Eligible programs benefit the City of Penticton and are open to all residents.

Municipal Grants:

The City asks organizations applying for municipal grants to self-identify in one of the following categories:

  • Arts, Culture & Heritage
  • Health, Safety & Social Services
  • Parks, Recreation & Sport

Municipal Special Events Grants:

The purpose of the municipal special event grant program is to provide financial assistance for non-profit community-based organizations to offer meaningful events that contribute to the community's economic health and social vibrancy.

Additional Eligibility Criteria
Financial assistance is available to non-profit organizations that render services to the residents of the City of Penticton, and that would be significantly impaired without such assistance.

Municipal Grants Policy:
To be eligible for municipal grants from the City of Penticton, organizations must clearly demonstrate meeting the following criteria:
- Not-for-Profit Status (in good standing)
- Community Based
- Accessible to All Residents
- Additional Funding Sources Sought
- No Duplication of Existing Programs/Projects (without proof of excess demand)
- Financial need (as evidenced through budgeted surplus/deficit)

Municipal Special Events:
To be eligible for special even grants from the City of Penticton, organizations must clearly demonstrate meeting the following criteria:
- The organization must be a registered non-profit society in good standing
- Preference will be given to events that take place (in whole or in part) at City venues and facilities
- Events should celebrate Penticton and reflect the vision of a vibrant, innovative, healthy waterfront city


Pre-Application Information
The 2023 in-year grant request intake is currently open and will close on July 31, 2023.

The 2024 main grant intake will be available from August 14, 2023 through September 30, 2023. These applications will be considered by Council during the 2024 budget deliberations scheduled November 21-23, 2023.

Note that with the changes to the policy, if the 2024 main grant intake period is missed, the in-year opportunities for application will be between May 2024 and July 2024.

Term of Contract
A two (2) year pilot program will be in effect for the 2024 and 2025 grant years, where select events may enter into two (2) year funding agreements with City administration in lieu of annual municipal special event grant applications.
