Grants of up to $5,000 to Pennsylvania nonprofit organizations, municipalities, and schools to benefit local families in eligible locations. Consideration will be given to requests to support new projects or to enhance established programming. Requests may also be considered for start-up funding. Funding is intended to benefit women and their families in Elk County.

Women Who Care strives to educate, encourage, and expand the number of women committed to philanthropy in order to strengthen the community by providing funds and assistance to issues that are important to families. The Women Who Care Fund welcomes grant applications as part of its mission to provide funding for projects that have the most impact for the families in communities.

Awards may be considered for new projects, or to enhance well-established programs. Awards may also be considered for start-up funds.

Additional Eligibility Criteria:

Awards are limited to nonprofit organizations with current exempt status as defined by the Internal Revenue Service Section 501(c) (3) Internal Revenue Code, schools, or municipalities.

Women Who Care does not typically make awards for capital campaigns or to fund endowments. Women Who Care does not make awards to individuals.

The following are also excluded from consideration: organizations that promote a particular religious or political ideology; dinner galas, advertising, and other special fundraising events; and contributions to the general fund of an organization.

Requests must not duplicate the work of other local organizations, and must reflect sustainability and/or other ongoing support.

Pre-Application Information:

The application deadline for 2022 is September 1st, with review 6-8 weeks after the due date. Applicants will need to present their project to the membership at their annual meeting

Organizations may apply for funding annually but the same project will not be considered more than once, unless unusual circumstances exist.

Recommended grant applications will be presented to the full membership of WWC in video format at its annual meeting in the fall. A 3-minute video from each grant applicant will be required at that time. Your video does not need to be included with this application. You will be notified by the Foundation at a later date of the deadline to submit your video. This is your opportunity to promote the project to the membership for their vote. The membership will vote on which projects will receive grants.

Women Who Care may award less than the amount requested, and may also consider providing matching or challenge grants.
