Grants ranging from $500 to $10,000 to Redding Area, California nonprofit organizations, public schools, and other public agencies to benefit Native American communities, rural populations, and youth. Funding may be requested for equipment, programs, and capital improvements or renovations.

Some examples of supported request are: musical instruments, sports equipment, playground equipment, sports programs, etc.

About the Redding Rancheria and this Grant Program:

The Redding Rancheria, located adjacent to the City of Redding, is a Native American tribe comprised of members of the Wintu, Pit River and Yana peoples. The Redding Rancheria traces its origins as a Tribal Government back to 1922 and formally adopted its constitution in 1985.

The Redding Rancheria Community Fund at the Shasta Regional Community Foundation distributes the charitable giving of the Redding Rancheria. Contributions to this fund come primarily from Win-River Casino, which is owned and operated by the Redding Rancheria.

Estimated Size of Grant:

Grant proposals should be for no less than $500 and no more than $10,000. The average grant size to date is approximately $6,000.

Term of Contract:

Projects for which grant is being sought should be completed within 12 months of grant receipt.

Additional Eligibility Criteria:

Grants are awarded to:
1. Nonprofit organizations with tax exempt status under Section 501(c) (3) of the Internal Revenue Code,
2. Public schools, and
3. Other public organizations.

Please note: For organizations applying as 501(c)(3) charitable organizations, the Community Foundation will search the IRS database to confirm current status. Organizations whose 501(c)(3) status isn’t current will not be eligible for funding consideration.

Organizations with a grant report past due to the Community Foundation are not eligible to apply.

Grants are not awarded to or for:
-Administrative/overhead costs, including personnel costs

Pre-Application Information:

Deadline: September 12, 2018

All Grant Requests must be submitted to the Community Foundation by 5:00 PM on the day of the deadline.

The review process may include a site visit, conducted by the review committee, and Community Foundation staff. Grant award notification will occur approximately 12-16 weeks from the proposal deadline.
