Ottawa Arts Council (OAC)
Award of $5,000 and awards of $1,000 to Ottawa, Ontario professional artist to acknowledge and support professional art contributions to the local community. The awards are intended to recognize artists in any discipline who have emerged past the beginning stage of their careers and are recognized as professional artists. Applicants must have lived in the National Capital Region (defined as 75km from Parliament Hill) for the previous three years.
-The applicant must fully meet the Eligibility Criteria (see below).
-The application is based on the value of the applicant’s body of work. Greater weight will be given to the recipient’s achievements and activities that have taken place in the last three years.
-The applicant is clearly recognized as established, having developed beyond the emerging stage of their career (typically this is 9 to 18 years of professional practice).
-The applicant demonstrates involvement in Ottawa’s arts community.

The recipient will receive a $5,000 award; two other finalists will receive $1,000 awards.
Applicants for this award must:
-Be in the mid-career stage of their career (typically this is 9 to 18 years of professional practice).
-Be recommended by an individual or group (recommenders may only endorse one applicant in each category per year).
-Have lived in the National Capital Region (defined as 75km from Parliament Hill) for the previous three years.
-Be involved in Ottawa’s professional arts community and work as a professional artist.
-Be recognized as a mid-career artist, as evidenced by their body of work.
-Have received public exposure where selection was carried out by an objective arm’s length body.
-Be a Canadian citizen or permanent resident of Canada.
-Not have previously received this award.
-Not have been shortlisted for this award in the previous year.
-Not be currently enrolled in full-time training.
