Grant Description
Grants of up to $3,000 and in-kind support to Ontario individuals in eligible locations to promote business development. Applicants must contact the funding source prior to submitting a full application. Funding is intended to help entrepreneurs launch a summer business. In addition to monetary support, successful applicants will receive business training and mentorship. Eligible applicants are seeking to start a business in the City of Brampton.

Additional Eligibility Criteria
You could be eligible if you:
- go to high school, college, or university
- live in Ontario
- are a Canadian citizen or permanent resident
- are between 15-29 years old (if under 18: a parent or guardian must sign the agreement for the applicant)
- are not already running a business
- are not working at another job or going to school for more than 12 hours a week during the program
- are returning to school after the program ends.

Ineligible
You cannot apply again if you have received a Summer Company grant in the past.

Pre-Application Information
The deadline to apply to the 2023 Summer Company Program offered through the Brampton Entrepreneur Centre (BEC) is Monday, May 15, 2023.

If you meet the eligibility requirements, your next step is to complete your ‘Application Inquiry’, select ‘Brampton’ as the ‘City/Town’ and select the ‘Brampton Entrepreneur Centre’ if you plan to start your business in Brampton or Caledon. Staff will contact you and send you information, program schedule, and document templates to complete your application package, which includes a business plan, start-up budget, and cash flow forecast.

Qualified applicants will be contacted for an interview. Selected candidates will be contacted and invited to participate in the program.

Estimated Size of Grant
The program provides:
- Business training and mentorship to help you get your business up and running.
- Opportunity for a grant of up to $3,000 to help you launch your summer business.

Term of Contract
- Start date: Usually May to July.
- End date: Labor Day (but you can choose to keep running your summer business while in school).

Over the summer program period, you must be prepared to commit:
- a minimum of 280 hours for high school students
- a minimum of 420 hours for post-secondary students
