Grants of up to $2,000 to Wisconsin nonprofits, individuals, and businesses to support educational projects in eligible locations. Funding is intended to support new and creative educational activities that impact all ages in or out of the classroom. Applications are invited for projects that promote creative thinking, innovative ideas, scholarship, teaching, professional development, the development of talents or intellect, learning outside of the classroom, and community involvement. Grants must target students and residents of the Washburn School District.

The "Big Idea": Requests for larger size grants should be for exciting, one-time projects that provide important, unique, and new opportunities for learning in the Washburn service area. 

The Washburn Community Education Foundation solicits proposals for innovative learning experiences that address the goals of the foundation:

  • Encourage innovative learning opportunities in the school and in the community
  • Foster creativity in teaching and scholarship
  • Help students develop special talents and intellectual gifts
  • Provide opportunities for teachers to pursue professional development in their field of instruction
  • Create diversity in teaching strategies
  • Increase opportunities for learning experiences outside the traditional classroom
  • Involve the community with the educational process.

Estimated Size of Grant:

Grants: $50-$2,000. The "Big Idea": WCEF is currently entertaining grant applications for projects above the $2,000 limit.

Additional Eligibility Criteria:

Successful grant recipients include individuals, nonprofits, and businesses.

Projects normally funded or have funding from the Washburn School District may not be considered for this grant.

Pre-Application Information:

Applications accepted March 1 - October 1

Due to the Covid19 Pandemic, the Foundation will be extending our Annual Grant deadline to October 1, 2020. WCEF will convene and award grants shortly after that. Applications can be submitted between now and October 1.

The "Big Idea" applicants are encouraged to reach out to board members before applying.

Applicant will receive an email response within two days if application has been successfully received.

Funds will be distributed once the Final Grant Report has been received. Early distribution of some funds may sometimes be arranged at the discretion of the WCEF Board.
